Our Name
Our Chinese name "¦P¤åÀ]" (Tongwenguan) has a long historical background. About 150 years ago, the government of the Qing Dynasty, eager to reform, started a modernization programme. The school, Tongwenguan, was hence established. A Western scholar was invited as principal to teach English there. Tongwenguan also engaged in translation and publishing. Later, other foreign languages, mathematics and other sciences were taught. For this reason, Tongwenguan was regarded as an institution where the East began to meet the West in modern China.
We do hope to carry on the mission of cultural exchange of Tongwenguan.

Our Logo
Our logo is a comma. Comma is the most commonly used punctuation mark in Chinese, English, as well as in many other languages.
Punctuation marks play an important role in language. They are the traffic signals of language. Like a conductor, they point up rhythm, direction, pitch, tone and flow of a sentence.
As a professional language service provider, we know punctuation does matter. As in the panda joke, we make sure that "Eats, shoots and leaves." and "Eats shoots and leaves." have very different meaning.
